

Old St. David's Episcopal Church, in Cheraw, SC, served as a military hospital four times. During the American Revolution, both the British and American's used her walls and grounds as a hospital. In June 1780, a large number of the 71st Highlanders under the command of Major Archibald McArthur were taken ill at St. David's and died of a fever, probably Thypoid or Malaria. Durig the American Civil War, St. Davids served as a hospital for both the Union and Confederacy.
